Zero Maintenance Grate
The mpcp High-Performance Grate accumulates the ash on the grate for on-demand ashing, when only excess ash is removed
There is no requirement to clean the mpcp Grate. Only excess ash is removed during ashing. The mpcp Ash Rakes are positioned to leave ash on the grate. Therefore, there is no wear. The result is a Zero Maintenance Grate.
In contrast to conventional systems that require continuous grate or sand bed operation, the mpcp Machine Ash Rakes are utilized for only brief periods on a two to three day ashing interval, based on using clean fuel.
Deep Bed Combustion
The mpcp High-Performance Grate operates with fuel beds that are 3 to 5 ft deep and with ash beds of 20 to 30 in.
Instead of travelling through a thin fuel bed, as for instance on a conventional grate where the combustion air has only a small chance to find carbon before it leaves the fuel bed, a deep fuel bed lends itself to achieve very high reaction rates between the fuel and the under-grate air.
A given quantity of oxygen in the under-grate combustion air passing through a deep bed can, for this reason, convert twice as much carbon to gas as is possible in a thin fuel bed. The process by which this is achieved is called gasification.
